Welcome to our 2009 programme. The year sees Hand Made Opera offering a varied programme,
from a new production of Haydn’s opera, Lo Speziale, to Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic
miniature, Trial by Jury. Other highlights include a new, fully-staged piece on exploring
the relationship between Gilbert and Sullivan written by Timothy Knapman and directed
by David Jamieson. This two-man show is ideal for small venues but works just as
well in full-sized theatres.
We have more Haydn in the form of a recital programme with celebrated young pianist,
Christopher Glynn and, for something entirely different, the highly-successful duo
Colin and Gulliver offer a variety of shows based around the songs and sketches of
Noel Coward and friends.
Once again in 2009, Hand Made Baroque will be giving a series of performances of
Bach’s masterpiece, The St John Passion. This is with the excellent St Peter’s Singers
(Vauxhall) and talented young tenor Sam Boden evangelising.
